Under Minister Andrew Carrier's mandate, the MMF is committed to working with Red River Métis Residential School Survivors to advance justice initiatives, develop Red River Métis-led programs, and ensure that all work remains Survivor-informed. This includes research, engagement, commemoration, missing children and burial-site work, and advocacy for the distinct experiences and priorities of Red River Métis Survivors, families, and communities.

Pekeywaytahihnan Nutr Zanfaan leur zisprii / Bringing Our Children's Spirit Home is a Red River Métis-led initiative dedicated to locating, documenting, and honouring children who did not return home from Residential Schools.
Guided by Survivors, families, Knowledge Keepers, and the Survivor Advisory Committee, the project supports archival research, community engagement, digitization, and the respectful gathering of knowledge. A five-year research plan has also been developed with the MMF Rights Research Department to strengthen the next phase of this work.
The initiative advances Minister Andrew Carrier's mandate to work with Survivors, develop Red River Métis-led initiatives, and ensure that Residential and Day School programming remains Survivor-informed.
Maamawi bigiiwewininaanig giniijaanisinaanig Council
Through its participation in the Maamawi bigiiwewininaanig giniijaanisinaanig Council, the MMF works with provincial First Nation and Inuit organizations on matters involving missing children, burial sites, records, research, commemoration, and repatriation.
The MMF brings a distinct Red River Métis perspective to these discussions and advocates for meaningful participation in decisions affecting Red River Métis children, families, historic sites, records, ancestral remains, and sacred entities.
This work supports Minister Carrier's mandate to advance justice initiatives, strengthen Red River Métis-led approaches, and ensure that Survivor voices remain central to decisions and programming.
